COVID-19 | Distance Learning

Updated 26 Malaki 2020

The ʻAha Pūnana Leo is vigilantly monitoring COVID-19, the Coronavirus Disease, and will remain in contact with the Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH). It is our standard practice to follow the DOH policies and the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations.

The ʻAPL’s decisions and future actions regarding the COVID-19 will be based on decisions and conversations with relevant state agencies to ensure proper preventive measures for the entire ʻAPL program. The ʻAPL is in the process of planning appropriate measures to prepare for potential outcomes.

Update: All instruction will now be online via distance learning on Niuolahiki until the end of the school year due to the state’s Stay-at-Home order and health concerns for our staff and ‘ohana. Please continue to log in to your Niuolahiki account for announcements and haʻawina from your kumu and for Google Meets dates and times.

Please continue to follow all CDC preventative measures as follows:

  • Wash hands often (clean hands saves lives) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, before eating, and after going to the bathroom.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Stay home when sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

We will continue to update you as we proceed in planning, based on the information received from relevant state agencies.

Mahalo ka hoʻomanawanui ʻana mai. We appreciate your kind consideration and kōkua with our collective efforts to protect the health and safety of our keiki, limahana, ʻohana, Pūnana Leo schools and communities.
